The Young Americans Performing Arts Summer Camp brings an incredible combination of high-energy, team-building, confidence-boosting FUN! Our cast is specially trained to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for students to learn, explore, create, and GROW! Camps are designed to develop participants performing arts skills in singing, drama, and dance. Unlike other music performance workshops, no prior training or experience in singing, dancing, and acting is necessary. By the end of camp, participants will learn and perform a one-act variety show, comprised of campers and The Young Americans’ performances, for their family and friends.

Each of the five full days of camp is filled with enthusiasm, encouragement, and care culminating in a staged-performance Saturday evening. Camp registration is limited so that The Young Americans are able to reach every student through individual attention to reveal their best qualities as performers and people. Our unique teaching style provides an encouraging environment for students to realize their potential and achieve the seemingly impossible goal of producing fully-staged shows in under a week. First-time campers, going into 3rd grade in the fall through the class of 2022, are always welcome! The registration cost is $250.

Summer Camp Modifications

Our first priority is to keep campers, families, and staff safe but it is difficult to tell what the situation with Covid-19 will be like at the end of July. We will be monitoring guidance, in regards to camps, from the CDC and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services through the next several months and make decisions based on that information. We will post updates as they come. You can also expect to receive email communications closer to the start of camp.

Refund Policy:

Campers are eligible for 100% of their paid registration fee for the 2022 summer camp if the camper’s scheduled week (or weeks) of The Young Americans Performing Arts Summer Camp is canceled by the organization because of the Covid-19 pandemic. A camper who develops symptoms of Covid-19, tests positive for Covid-19, or is directed to quarantine during their registered week of camp, will be eligible for a partial or prorated refund. If the camper tests positive for the Covid-19 virus or is instructed to quarantine by a healthcare official prior to the start of their scheduled week of camp, a refund will not be issued. If your child’s registered week of camp has started and you choose to not have your child participate, a refund will not be issued.

AGE RANGE

Camp is open to students entering 3rd grade through 2022 graduates.

CAMP ATTIRE

Students should wear comfortable, school-appropriate clothing and supportive shoes throughout the camp. Please, no sandals or flip-flops. Please send your student to camp every day with a traditional mask which loops behind the ear, not a gator-style covering. Every camper will receive a t-shirt to wear for the performances and should wear it with dark jeans, pants, or leggings. Please no shorts for the shows.

SEEKING HOST FAMILIES

The Young Americans and seeking host families for the week of camp for two or more of the cast members. Thousands of families across the globe have hosted The Young Americans and rave about the experience. Staying with local families is one of the many rewarding aspects of participating in the camps for the YAs and has cultivated life-long friendships over the years. They travel in pairs at a minimum, for safety reasons, and are accustomed to sleeping on air mattresses or couches so don’t worry if you can’t provide a dedicated room. We ask that homestays families provide all meals as well as transportation to and from the camps. Cast members will be Covid-19 tested before each week of homestays. As a thank you for volunteering to Host, we will give you two VIP tickets that you can use at either the show on Saturday Matinee or Saturday night.
