Changing individual lives through the power of music, performance, and dance is nothing new… if you’re a member of The Young Americans. They do it virtually every day, throughout the globe, utilizing their unique brand of immersive music and performance workshops.
What made this short documentary film unique was the opportunity in the fall of 2015 for a cast of 45 Young Americans, in the midst of a tour through Europe, to conduct a workshop in rural Germany that would integrate local German youth with scores of refugee youth.
Mine Is the Sunlight: Refugee Youth in Germany aims to show the viewer an authentic telling of how brotherly and sisterly love in the context of music and performance can uplift the individual, from any background, and foster new community – even among those we’re told will never assimilate.
