Camp Cancelations: The Young Americans Summer Camps Update (5.4.2020)

The Young Americans are sad to announce that our summer camp programs scheduled for 2020 will be canceled.

The health and safety of our cast members, campers, and those who welcome us into their homes are our top priority. In light of Covid-19, we do not feel we can provide a high-quality summer camp experience that also ensures everyone’s safety. Those who have already registered will be notified via email and provided with steps to request a refund.

We know these are challenging times for everyone. We encourage you to check in on family and friends and share hope through music. While our operations may be suspended for the time being, you can still connect with The Young Americans through our YouTube channel and other social media platforms.

We are so thankful for the support and cooperation provided by all of our host schools. We can’t wait to sing and dance with you all next summer.

Office Closed: Update from the Interim-CEO/President (3.20.2020)

The California Governor has ordered, as of March 19th, that all residents are required to stay home except for the purposes of obtaining basic essential and healthcare needs, or if you go to an essential job or provide care for someone. In compliance with this order The Young Americans office and campus is closed effective today.

While The Young Americans offices and campus is closed until further notice, our staff and faculty are working diligently from home to ensure cast members, students, community members and those we serve continue to receive the most recent updates and tools necessary to continue The Young Americans vital mission of promoting goodwill and hope through music.

During these uncertain and critical times, please check on family and friends – by phone – and continue to share hope through music.

Campus Closed: The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts Update (3.16.2020)

In light of the governor’s Executive Order regarding the physical closure of schools and guidelines that no more than 10 people be gathered, The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts has, until further notice, closed its campus. Classes for the remainder of the spring semester will be offered though distance learning. Faculty will communicate directly with students though the Populi platform. Students will be able to receive support services, including counseling, student support, admissions and enrollment, and financial aid, through the platform and via email as well. The ensure a smooth transition classes will be suspended for the week of March 16-20th. Classes will resume on March 23rd. The end date for the semester will be one week later as well. The end state for spring semester is now April 10th. Summer session classes will also be offered in fully online formats.

We will continue to provide students and parents with vital updates regarding class schedules and distance learning as we continue to monitor the progress of the pandemic and the guidance provided by the state and federal government.

Performance & Workshop Cancelations: The Young Americans Workshop and Tour Update (3.12.2020)

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, The Young Americans has canceled ALL workshops through to April 30. This decision, though difficult, was made following local government mandates and proclamations across the nation closing ALL schools and prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 people and is consistent with guidelines and recommendation regarding social distancing.

Though The Young Americans workshops will not meet in-person, we will be utilizing various social media platforms to bring creative and innovative ways for you to stay engaged. Please follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on upcoming live streams and engagement.

  • Japan Tour (JMC) Update:
    Scheduled workshops for March, April & May are canceled or being rescheduled at this time.
  • USA Tour Update:
    All workshops scheduled in the USA for March and April have been canceled.
  • European Tour Update:
    The European tour planned for April through July 2020 has been canceled. Hosting communities are being rescheduled for the future.

As the pandemic continues to evolve and depending on respective governments guidance and mandates, we will continue to assess our touring schedule and adjust accordingly, providing updates as soon as possible.

Casts Return from Japan: The Young Americans Workshop and Tour Update (2.28.2020)

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, The Young Americans has canceled ALL current torus in Japan and returned all casts to the USA. Workshops scheduled for March have been canceled or rescheduled. We are grateful to the JMC staff, volunteers, and kids supports who taken extraordinary efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of The Young Americans as well as the people of Japan.

We know these are uncertain times for many people, just as they are uncertain for The Young Americans.
